Night Watch

The face of a great horned owl emerges from the irregular shape of a single historic pottery fragment, its bright eye meeting the viewer at close range. Cropped tightly around the bird’s gaze, the painting turns a fleeting encounter with a familiar Southern nocturnal presence into an intimate study of looking—and being looked back at.
