Raise Hell, Drop Anchor

My elementary art teacher used to tell wild stories of pirates and explorers circumnavigating the globe while we painted. My favorite tales were of Magellan and Blackbeard. Especially the story of how Blackbeard blockaded the Charleston Harbor, took hostages, and demanded a chest of medicine—not gold or rum. I don’t know what was more exciting—the art, or her convincing us we were one wrong turn from buried treasure.
